EDGA Head of Instruction & Education, Mark Taylor spent two days with the AF Golf team at the stunning Golf Du Bercuit, Asbl, Grez-Doiceau, located to the south east of Brussels.
Day one provided existing qualified PGA of Belgium coaches an update on G4D and presented an opportunity for the attending coaches to ask Mark to provide support from their recent experiences on certain specific areas of coaching players with various disabilities.
Day two worked with PGA of Belgium trainee professionals and provided them with an opportunity to learn more about G4D, the player pathway and provide a structured D3 (Development 3) outreach session. The coaches experienced both playing and coaching different simulations to gain more confidence and understanding in coaching participants with physical, sensory and intellectual impairment.
Pierre-Alexis Rolland, (AF Golf) who also attended the second training day commented ‘This is the fourth EDGA coach education visit to AF Golf and the training really provides a great starting point for our coaches to understand the potential for growing the game with this section of the population. With over 1 million people living with a disability here in Belgium, our initiator coaches are now better positioned to deliver outreach sessions to new participants with disability and provide ongoing structured sessions at club level.’
