EDGA Coach Education visit – South Africa

EDGA’s Head of Development Mark Taylor delivers coach education to volunteers and PGA coaches in South Africa.

Mark Taylor, EDGA’s Head of Development, recently visited South Africa to work with volunteer coaches and PGA of South Africa professionals in three different provinces of South Africa.

The visit which took in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban was supported by The Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation (ADLF), and in collaboration with Golf RSA, The South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA) and The PGA of South Africa.

Coaches and volunteers who attended the workshop received training in the EDGA 3 model, while the qualified PGA coaches also attended impairment specific training. Many attendees were moved enough to send feedback on the training and what it meant to them:

Thanks for a great training course. It was a pleasure to attend, and you helped me articulate parts of my role as a coach and consider new aspects of coaching. Your expertise, energy and wit that you brought to the event helped ensure that the workshop was both enjoyable and a success. I will be able to carry the lessons learnt going forward. Thanks again for your knowledge! It has been invaluable. I look forward to working with both of you and getting more golfers with disabilities into the wonderful game of golf.

Hi there just want to say thank you for an awesome two days, a real eye opener.

Thank you again for organizing the SADGA training, really learnt a lot and really had fun at the same time.”

“I thought that Mark Taylor was VERY good. Since my days of studying, I have always admired intelligent people who could convert difficult topics (like the golf swing ) into simple terms.”

Most liberating coaching ever received.

Having watched Mark in action I have to agree that his passion, knowledge and delivery is a fantastic asset for EDGA. Thank you for all the work that you do and for this very helpful initiative. The SADGA and South African coaches are benefitting greatly.

Thanks for your time yesterday. From the little bit I got out of the start of your workshop I immediately realised the importance of it. I also enjoyed the background you gave us which was really insightful. I also know that I still have a lot to learn.” ?
